The Sunshine Coast weather forecast for the entire week leading up to Maddy and Nathan's wedding at the Obi Obi Hall was for storms and heavy rainfall between 40-80mm. Not ideal. In fact it did rain that much on most parts of the Sunshine Coast but not over the range in Obi Obi. The forecast didn't dampen (pardon the pun) the spirits of the bride and groom anyway.
Maddy got ready in The Falls Farm "Smith House" near the gorgeous Mapleton Falls. This is the oldest house in town and has been beautifully renovated. The house sits on the top of the highest ridge in Mapleton. This was the perfect place to fit all of the bride's nephews, nieces, bridesmaids and parents - the whole tribe! Smith House also served as a great backdrop for Maddy getting ready with her friends and family.
A massive marquee was set up beside the Obi Obi Hall or the wedding ceremony with amazing views of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland mountains in the background. The ceremony was full of prayer, laughs and genuine love and emotion from all the wedding party and guests present.
Post ceremony I took the bride and groom and their lovely bridesmaids and groomsmen up to Mapleton Falls Lookout for some portraits then up their road to Smith House for some intimate and epic portraits of just the newlyweds.
I'd been photographing Maddy and Nathan in front of the old farm shed in the backyard for about 15 minutes then I turned around to be greeted by the most intoxicatingly mysterious thick fog. Needless to say the bride and groom swiftly moved into the fog for some of the most beautiful wedding portraits I've ever been blessed to take.
The wedding party headed back down to Obi Obi Hall for the reception where I departed soon after their entrance. Buzzing Events did a spectacular job of the reception styling and it was without a doubt one of the most magical looking receptions I've photographed!
Congratulations Maddy & Nathan!
Enjoy...
